Oct 04, 2012 · Got 4 of the exact same ram sticks, but now the motherboard refuses to read more than 2 of the 4 slots at a time. (used to have 8GB, now it only sees 4gb). I've tried every ram stick individually in every slot and they all work properly. I've tried every combo of 2 sticks in all possible slot combinations and all worked.

On ryzen 2700x the same memorie sticks are working perfectly in dual channel. On Ryzen 3600 they work in slots 1 and 2 (counting from the CPU), but inserting RAM into another slots like 2 and 4 (for dual channel operation) causes 3 long beeps - that is, a problem with RAM. Please ask me, I will provide more information. So my XPS 8700 came with 2 4gb RAM sticks, installed in slots 1 and 2 for a total of 8gb memory. I installed 2 8gb sticks in slots 3 and 4 yesterday. My system shows 24gb installed, but only 16gb usable. So I tried installing the 8gb sticks in slots 1 and 2, and the 4gb sticks in slots 3 and 4. Same result. Shouldn't the entire 24gb be usable. Jan 21, 2017 · Most mobos work like this: 2 ram sticks go in slot 2 - 4 if you have 4 sticks put em all in. My msi manual told me to put it in slot 2 - 4 too akd iv got 8gbs in 2 sticks. Dec 04, 2019 · Like stated above, Task manager says using 2 of 4 slots for Ram, where do the other 2 sticks go if I wanted to upgrade to 4 sticks of 8gb? I didn't see the extra slots when I put in the sd and repasted the thermals. But I also wasn't looking for them really. Jan 18, 2020 · Nzxt CAM also sees both stick. Win10 and Dxdiag does only show 8gb. (0gb used for orher hardware) i have tried the msconfig->boot->advance settings and checked the box for maximum memory on and off after restarts. I have tried every combo of one ram stik i MB in each slot, and both ram i both slots. My MB is a ITX so i only have 2 dimm ports

May 11, 2013 · Each stick uses 1.2-1.7v so having more sticks obviously will immediately lead to more power consumption. Secondly, if you plan on overclocking your memory at all now or in the perceivable future, two sticks will scale a lot better than four.
